Carlos F. Carrillo Jr. was born in Texas, 1972. Born into a military family he grew up moving from one base to another. In his early teenage years his family settled in Florida’s panhandle where he took up skateboarding and excelled quickly. His athletic and innovative talents combined with his drive to seek out new obstacles took him to traveling once again across the United States.
His skateboarding days came to an end in the mid nineties after a car accident. During the recovery process from a spinal cord injury Carlos decided to purse other creative outlets. He relocated to New York and is now currently living and working in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Carlos has studied fine arts at the Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida. He also attended independent fine art studies at Laguna Gloria, Austin Museum of Art & Elizbet Ney Sculpture Conservatory, both located in Austin, Texas. He holds a BFA degree with Honors from the School of Visual Arts, in New York City. He is also a Certified Technology Specialist utilizing his extensive knowledge base within his artworks. He exhibits extensively in New York and was included in a number of shows curated by renowned artists. Carlos’s dedication to the arts was acknowledged and awarded numerous grants and scholarships. His works can be found in private collections around the United States.
